3OTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS:
MESSAGE FROM THE CLASS PRESIDENT ...30 YEARS OF GOD'S FAITHFULNESS
I am grateful to God Almighty for making today, our long-awaited day, a reality to me and my classmates. Over the years, Our lives have followed many paths, we have experienced twists and turns. We have celebrated individually and collectively as a set. We have also been sorrowful together, most times while burying some of our fallen heroes, our late beloved classmates, the likes of Oludare Adanti, Henry Ovirih, Oluwakemi Aduloju, Ayoola Ajayi, Femi Gbonjubola, Bayo Famose, Lekan Ibironke, Nike Efunlaran, Toke Fabelurin, Ajakaye Taiwo, Timothy Obembe, Bolanle Olanrewaju, May God continue to rest their souls. Amen. For those that I just remembered, our rational minds believe that they died too young, But we are glad that the mysteries of life have been revealed to them through God Almighty. Through it all, we still have joy, we are grateful to God Almighty as set, for the love that exists between us, and for His faithfulness over us which has been available in abundance in times of celebrations and times of Trials. We are not counting the years but the
memories.
WHO WE ARE:
We were boys and girls, mostly in our teen ages 30 years ago leaving this citadel of knowledge, Ilesa Grammar School with so much excitements and aspirations of life. We were full of life, in expectation to what the future holds for us. We are the 60th set for the school, a very unique classmates in all ramifications.
God has helped us to grow in our different chosen careers and paths, but our roots are tangled, we have something in common irrespective of our different achievements and status today. We have grown separately without growing apart. We give thanks to God Almighty that endowed us with loving hearts to be appreciative of one another, and for the grace to manage our differences which He has given unto us, We acknowledge the fact that perfection is a continuous exercise and we strife daily towards achieving that. We are more than classmates, we are families. Also, we strongly believe in the dreams and plans of the national body of Ilesa grammar school old students Association, in view of this, we have supported two of classmates as an executive member of National body.
OUR TOGETHERNESS:
We have been our brothers keepers since we left Ilesa Grammar School, this and many more were achieved by us through personal visitations, writing of letters, among others, before the emergence of mobile telephones. I will like to appreciate the early crusaders of this course, the likes of Ayo Awe, Bayo Odeyemi, Late Oludare Adanri, Lekan Obadare, your efforts are appreciated from those mini reunions you organized shortly after school (pictures attached in the photographs section), to the coordination of classmates on Black Berry (BB)and whatsap platforms after the emergence of mobile phones. Technology has helped us, but it was not about technology, it was about the zeal to reconnect with our beloved classmates. We recognize the fact that in the end, we will always go back to those that were there in the beginning.
Appreciation to the leaders before me, Bayo Odeyemi, the first chosen coordinator for the set, Late Oludare Adanri, care taker committee members that gave the class a befitting structure. You guys are appreciated for registering the association with CAC which can be credited to the tireless members of our Board of Trustees(BOT). Wale Anjoorin, the past immediate president of the association, your efforts towards the betterment of the set are appreciated.
GIVING BACK TO THE SCHOOL:
In the past few years, we, as individuals and collectively as a set have spent over 35millions executing different projects inside Ilesa Grammar School. These includes: the CORPERS LODGE, DONATIONS OF UNIFORMS AND WRITING NOTE BOOKS TO STUDENTS, INTERVENTION PROGRAMMES (PROVISIONS OF TEACHERS), RESUSCITATION OF TECHNICAL DRAWING AS A SUBJECT, GIVING OF AWARDS, ESSAY COMPETITIONS, among others. We can not be tired in this regards as we have taken it as our culture. Today, close to 2million Naira is going to be giving out as awards to outstanding students and teachers. We are glad we are doing this. Two of us have engaged teachers to compliment the numbers of teachers in the school. Subjects that were forgotten as a result of lack of teachers was resuscitated. We also have a long term plans for our giving back programs by acquiring parcel of land along Osogbo road where we intend to construct a commercial edifice and the proceeds shall be utilized for the execution and maintenance of our future projects in the school, as a give back to the school. These and many more are in our plans.
